Shirley Mae Jones entered eternal rest on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at the age of 77. She was a native of White Castle, LA, and a resident of Avondale, LA. Shirley was a graduate of the Ibberville Parish School District and certified in Early Childhood Education. She was a Daycare Owner and director for over 30 years. Beloved wife of Roger Jones, Sr. Loving mother of Carl L. Melancon, Valentine L. Melancon Jr., Angela M. Goodman, Roslyn M. Melancon, Roger J. Jones, Jr, and Teranie J. Thompson. Daughter of the late Frank Jones, Sr. and Rosie Irons-Jones. Sister of Doris J. Watts, Cynthia J. Spriggs, Joseph Jones, Bobby Jones, and the late Frank Jones, II. Aunt of the late Valerie Chapman. Mother in law of Mary-Jane Jones, Barron Goodman, and Bob Thompson, Jr. Sister in law of Diana Jones, and Elizabeth M. Jones, also survived by 12 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers and members of City of Refuge Ministries, Mt. Herman Baptist Church, Life Center, and neighboring churches are invited to attend a viewing at Davis Mortuary Service 6820 Westbank Expressway Marrero, LA on Friday, April 19, 2024, from 5:00p.m. until 8:00p.m. Celebration of Life will be held at City of Refuge 32925 Bowie St. White Castle, LA on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at 12:00p.m. Visitation will begin at 10:30a.m. at the above named church.
