Harrod, OH Shirley Ann Kerchenfaut, age 87, passed away on August 24, 2025, at Lost Creek Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center where she brought joy, laughter and a touch of sass to everyone lucky enough to know her right up until her final days. Shirley was born on March 30, 1938, in Lima, Ohio to Herschel and Catherine Long who proceeded her in death. Shirley married James H. Kerchenfaut on February 2, 1974, whom proceeded her in death on January 17, 2002. Shirley is survived by a daughter, Debbie (John) Barclay of Santa Maria, CA and a son, Michael (Tina) Kerchenfaut of Harrod, OH. She has 6 grandchildren: Sara Barclay of Morro Bay, CA, Ali (Julian) Barclay of Oakland, CA, Dustin (Mariah) Barclay of Santa Maria, CA, Savannah Barclay of Santa Maria, CA, Hannah (Ethan) Cummings of Ft Jennings, OH and Emily (Dakota) Schweitzer of Lima, OH. 5 great grandchildren and another precious baby girl on the way. She was preceded in death by a brother Richard Long and his wife, Jean. She spent many years working at The Met Bank, where her sharp mind and warm heart made her beloved by colleagues and customers. After retiring, she embraced life with gusto--joining a bowling league where she was known for her competitive spirit and contagious laughter, and taking spontaneous gambling trips with her brother that always came with great stories and new friendships made. She had a knack for finding joy in the little things: a good book, a snuggle from one of her cats, a delicious meal with a friend, or a spontaneous outing with those she loved. These weren't just past times--they were her way of celebrating life and staying connected to the people who mattered most. But above all, her heart belonged to her children and grandchildren. They were her pride and greatest joy. She poured her love into every moment spent with them, creating a legacy of warmth, laughter and unconditional support that will live on in their hearts forever. A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025, at 1:00 pm at Westminster-Salem Cemetery. Officiating the service will be Pastor Richard Biclawsky. The CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, EASTSIDE CHAPEL is honored to be assisting the family with funeral arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to the Auglaize township historical society, in honor of her love for family and community.
