Shirley Lee Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home - Hammond on Feb. 20, 2026.
Shirley, age 84, went to her heavenly home on Thursday, February 19, 2026. She was a native of Greensburg, Louisiana and a longtime resident of Holden and Albany, LA. Shirley was truly a selfless lady with a heart of gold. For over 30 years she worked at the Hammond State School where she wonderfully touched and made a difference in the lives of the students/ residents there. Shirley's family always came first; blood family and her precious extended family who she also often cared for. Traveling with family and friends, especially her friend Bonnie, was one of her favorite times. Fried chicken was her favorite; don't get between her and a crispy wing. Her chicken and dumplings recipe carries on as she taught her son Kendall to make them exactly like hers. Shirley was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, neighbor, co-worker and friend who is already dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She resided the past 7 years at her home in Camelot/ Ponchatoula Community Care Center. She was well cared for and really appreciated ALL her caregivers, especially Nurse Sheila. Shirley was able to share life and community again with her childhood friend, Lenora, and also her coworker/ friend/ fellow school parent, Brenda.

Shirley is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Erdey (Mike) and LaLinda 'Lucy' Taylor; son, Kendall Lee (Angela); grandchildren, Michael, Terry (Kristan), Jacob, Keri Lee, Kendall Renae (Mason), Mickey, and Luke; great-grandchildren; Kinley, Dru, and Tucker; sister, Faye Strong; brother, Dennis Allen (Debbie); along with numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.

Shirley is preceded in death by her former husband, Terry Lee; parents, Virgil and Addie Carruth Allen; sisters, Carolyn Tarver, and Vesta Allen; along with son-in-law, Gaylen 'Coon' Taylor
