Hester Blount "Sis Sister" Bankston

Hester, known to many as Sis or Sister, joined her husband in Heaven on Friday, March 6, 2026 at the age of 82. She was a life long resident of Independence, LA. She was a devoted member of New Life Baptist Church and worked faithfully for over 15 years at Elmer's Chocolate Factory. Known for her warm spirit and generous heart, Sis treated everyone she met like family. Her kindness touched countless lives, and she was always willing to lend a helping hand or offer a comforting smile. Sis enjoyed going shopping and, most of all, spending time with her family, who meant the world to her. Her big heart and loving nature will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her son, Donnie Bankston Sr. (Stephanie); grandchildren, Donna Marie Lowe (James), Donnie Bankston Jr.; great-grandchildren, Jameson Lowe, Jalanea Lowe, Jullian Lowe, Jacelyn Lowe; sisters-in-law, Elsie Bankston, Dorothy Hoyt; and brothers-in-law, Emmett Stewart and Jerry Addison.

Sis is preceded in death by her husband, Donald D. Bankston; parents, Warren and Hester Blount; brother, Charles Blount; sisters, Emmajean Stewart, Barbara Addison; and brothers-in-law, Douglas Bankston and J.L. Hoyt.
