Shirley Lohmeyer, age 85, of Ten Sleep, WY (formerly of Alexandria, MN and Hoffman, MN) passed away peacefully at her home on November 27th, 2024 after a courageous battle with ALS. She was born Shirley Ann Elmquist on December 28,1938 in Kensington, MN to Alfred and Betsy (Mithun) Elmquist. She graduated from Hoffman High School in 1956 and married Eugene Harstad in 1957. They had five children: Jeff (Lisa) Harstad of Arizona formerly of Farwell, MN, Renee (John) Lynch of Canaan, CT, Scott Harstad of Ten Sleep, WY, Doreen (Eldon) Strom of Barrett, MN and Todd (Shana) Harstad of Ten Sleep, WY.

Shirley remarried in 1981 to Paul Lohmeyer and after Paul retired from farming in Minnesota, they eventually moved to Ten Sleep, WY. Before her retirement, Shirley had been employed at the former Hoffman Co-op Creamery, Runestone Telephone Association of Hoffman and by Battle Lake Cartography of Battle Lake. She also attended Alexandria Technical and Community College and graduated from a Commercial Arts program.

Shirley had immense love for family and took great pride in her children and her grandkids. She will be remembered for her generosity and cheerful nature, her love for artistry, handiwork and creativity: painting, drawing, crocheting, weaving rugs and especially quilting. Her passion for flower gardening and vegetable gardens were evident wherever she called home.

Besides her five children, Shirley is survived by her sisters Ione Haggberg of Maple Grove, MN, Mavis (Curt) Haagenson of Battle Lake, MN, Lois (Frank) Olson of Benbrook, TX and Darlene Elmquist of Barrett, MN, 12 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, six siblings: Orlin, Donald, James, Gerald, Gladys, Evelyn and daughter-in-law Linda Harstad, Eugene Harstad and her husband Paul Lohmeyer.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 20, 2024, 11:00 - 12:00 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home with a Memorial Service at 12:00 PM at the funeral home.  Burial will be at Barrett Zion Cemetery.
