Shirley Jean Manning, age 88 of Shepherdsville, KY passed away September 18, 2025, at her residence. She was born in Hardinsburg, KY on July 12, 1937, daughter of the late Vincent and Pearl Jolly Flood. Shirley retired from Mother's Cookies. She enjoyed singing and listening to Bluegrass and country music, watching Andy Griffith, raising a garden and canning vegetables. She was a wonderful cook and always had plenty to go around if you visited her. She loved gatherings with her children and their families.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Marvin Manning, children Wayne Manning and Donna Manning and her husband Johnny Gray, grandson Chris Dunn and siblings Harold, Bernard, Larry and Bobby Flood; Ruby Wheatley, Judy Hardesty, Agnes Critchelow and Mary Eliza Wallace.

Shirley is survived by her children: Rhonda Fitterer (Bernie) of West Point, KY, Marie Sowder (Odie Chandler), Jerome Manning and Jennifer Hance (Josh) of Shepherdsville, KY

Daughter-in-law: Marlene Manning of Louisville, KY

8 grandchildren: Kara Huffstutler (Charlie), Jason Fitterer, Michael Manning, Michael Sowder (Kelsey), Nathan Sowder (Samantha), Shelby Sowder (Shayden Boggs), Brittney Gray and Cody Gray

Granddaughter-in-law: Trina Dunn

10 great grandchildren: Stefanie Renner, Andrew Huffstutler, Collin Dunn (Hannah), Kayla Dunn, Ariel Fitterer, J J Fitterer, Jacob Fitterer, Liam Wayne Sowder, Paisley Jean Sowder and Stella Mae Boggs

3 great great grandchildren: Athena Dunn, Amelia Dunn, Colton Renner

Many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at 12 PM with burial in the St. Romuald Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:30 AM on Tuesday. All times are central.
