Shirley Ann Mitchell Workman

Shirley Ann Mitchell Workman, 78, of Cowan, Kentucky passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2025 at her home, surrounded by her family. 

She was born October 30, 1946 in Fleming County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Theodore Mitchell and Roxie Sapp Mitchell.

Shirley attended the Pleasant Valley Church and the Pleasant Ridge Christian Church. She enjoyed spending evenings dancing at the Tilton Barn Dance or dancing on the street in Carlisle for the Blackberry Festival. She also loved cooking, especially for her family, keeping a clean house, and working on the farm, but most of all Shirley enjoyed spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, John Harvey Workman, who passed away March 1, 2008; three brothers, Charlie Mitchell, Leslie Mitchell and Melvin Mitchell; one sister, Clara Jackson; one granddaughter, Hannah Rae Shields; four sisters-in-law, Nora Mitchell, Brenda Mitchell, Anna Lee Workman, and Betty Workman; three nephews, Chris Mitchell,  Charles ("Bubber") Mitchell, and Rob Jackson; and one niece, Kathy Burden.

Shirley leaves to mourn her passing, her family which includes, two sons, Clarence Workman (Carol) of Carlisle, Kentucky and Daryl ("Jim Boy") Workman (Melissa) of Cowan; three daughters, Delana Workman (Keith Cox), Jennifer Mitchell (Earl) both of Cowan and Lucy Perkins (Dwayne) of Carlisle; grandchildren; Andrew, Justin, Jessica, Kimberly, Alicia, Roxie, Steven, Shelby, Johna, Katie, Makayla, Matthew and Jonathan; great-grandchildren, Hayden, Baileigh, Carter, Kinsee, Morgan, Chloe, John Douglas, Jamiey, Erin, Emily, Owen, Rayleigh, Waylon, Addison, Daisy, Harper, Sutton, Lyla, Wyatt, AnnaLee, Axel, Leeann, and Cordell and three additional great-grandchildren; one special cousin, Velva Overbey. Also, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, January 31, 2025 in the chapel of the Price Brothers Funeral Home in Elizaville with Brother Dean Brewer officiating. 

Shirley will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Elizaville Cemetery.

Visitation is on Thursday from 4:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. 

Casket bearers will be Justin Cox, Andrew Cox, Keith Cox, Earl Mitchell, Matthew Perkins, Jonathan Perkins, Tyler Grimes, and Steven Workman.

Honorary casket bearers will be Jamie Cox, Owen Grimes, Caleb Crawford, Wyatt Mullikin, Zach Miller, Tommy Jackson, and Walter Mitchell.
