Shirley Jean Moore, born on November 7, 1938, in Broaddus, Texas, peacefully passed away on January 24, 2025, in Palestine, Texas at the age of 86 years. She was the beloved daughter of Douglas Sylvester Beard and Alma Pearl (Wall) Beard.
Shirley dedicated her life to caring for others, retiring as a registered nurse with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice after twenty fulfilling years. Her career reflected her compassion and commitment to the well-being of those around her, and her impact was felt by many.
Beyond her professional life, Shirley had a passion for gardening. To her, there was nothing quite like the joy of nurturing plants and cultivating a beautiful yard. Those who wandered past her home often admired the blooms she tended with such love. She also found comfort in the companionship of her furry friend, Scooter, whose antics never failed to bring a smile to her face.
Shirley is survived by sister, Jo Ann Delyte Beard Theriot; nieces and nephews, David Lane Theriot, Debra Lynn Ingham, Christopher Edward Theriot, Charles David Stewart, Kimberly Leigh Foley, Douglas Beard, and Chris Beard; and furry companion, Scooter; as well as numerous extended family and special friends.
A funeral service will be held 1 P.M., Monday, January 27, 2025, at Walters Funeral Home, Centerville, Texas. George and Rita Aghaei will officiate the service. A brief visitation will take place from 12 noon to service time at the funeral home. Following the service, Shirley will be laid to rest in Parker Cemetery, Flo, Texas.
