Shirley Munson, 90, Two Harbors, died at home on Wednesday, December 17, 2025.
Shirley was born November 28, 1935 to Fred and Julia (Walden) Fisher in Indianapolis, IN, and grew up in Brownsburg, IN and San Diego, CA. She met Robert Munson while he was a Navy man in San Diego and after his discharge, they were married December 28, 1952. Together they entered Linda Vista Baptist Bible College in San Diego, and after two years Shirley left school to raise their family.
In April of 1967, Bob and Shirley and their five children moved to Bob’s home state of Minnesota. They lived in the Little Falls area until moving to Two Harbors in 1977. Shirley was a homemaker through the years and later worked as a caregiver at the Barross House Assisted Living, as a hospitality host the Houle Information Center, and as a tour guide for the Lake County Historical Society.
Shirley enjoyed traveling, music, piano, sewing, quilting and ceramics.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; and a brother, Donald Fisher.
Shirley is survived by a son, Timothy (Deb) Munson; daughters, Sherrill Munson, Cindy Weber, Julia Alvarez and Becky Munson; 9 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-granddaughter.
Visitation will be from 10 AM until the 11 AM Funeral Service on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at First Baptist Church in Two Harbors. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Gideons International.
The family of Shirley extends their sincere thanks to the staff at Lake View Hospital and Clinic, the Hospice team, and all who cared for her.
