Shirley Ann (Storey) Myers, 87, of Enfield, passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2023. She was born on February 20, 1936, in Enfield, the daughter of Leonard R. and Ollie May (Phillips) Storey. Shirley married Robert J. Myers in 1955, and he preceded her in death on May 13, 1964 She graduated from Enfield High School. Shirley had many jobs, including, secretary/bookkeeper at Enfield Sewing Factory, secretary of Booth Elementary School and then the Secretary at Enfield High School. She worked as bookkeeper at Elastec, which she loved, until she retired in 2017. Shirley also served as Enfield Village Treasurer for over 40 years. She was of Baptist faith and was a member of the Enfield General Baptist Church. Family was her most precious treasure on earth. Shirley enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved gardening and taking care of her flowers.
Shirley is survived by her children, Robert L. (Patricia) Myers of Enfield, IL. Karla Jo Myers of Enfield, IL, Stephanie Colleen Rush of Enfield, IL; grandchildren, Eric (Kim) Myers of Norris City, IL, Amber N. Haley of Carmi, IL, Stephanie McKenna (Cole) Steffey of Allendale, IL; great-grandchildren, Kendall Rooney, Noah Haley, Landon J. Winkles, Thaddeus Colson Steffey and Mavrie Faye Steffey; many cousins and extended family, including Vonnie Farris, her caretaker, who the family would like to give a special thanks to,
Funeral services for Shirley Myers will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, July 17, 2023, at Stendeback Funeral Home in Enfield, Illinois. Family and friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until time of service on Monday, July 17, 2023, at Stendeback Funeral Home in Enfield. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Shirley's memory to the Alzheimer's Association and will be accepted at Stendeback Funeral Home in Enfield, who is in charge of arrangements.
