WEAVERVILLE – Shirley Mae Parton Nelms, age 80, of 51 Roberts Street, Weaverville, passed away on Thursday, November 6, 2025.
Mrs. Nelms was born on December 18, 1944, in McDowell County and lived in Buncombe County all her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Nelms; parents, Helen and Jasper Parton, Sr.; and brother, Jasper Parton, Jr.
Shirley loved her family, and loved cats and dogs. She was a big Atlanta Braves baseball fan. She lived a simple life and will be greatly missed.
Surviving are her daughters, Darlene Carver and Michelle Nelms; sister, Delores Johnson and husband Philip; grandchildren, Cody Nelms, Dillon Carver and August Nelms; and great granddaughter, Juliet.
