Shirley Mae (Dooley) Nero, born on April 26, 1936 in Marietta, Georgia, was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a graduate of Marietta High School. Shirley passed away at age 82 on September 25, 2018 in Ball Ground, Georgia. Shirley is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 30 years, Robert J. Nero. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Ruby Dooley; her son, Michael W. Freeze; daughter, Melodie L. Freeze; and brothers, Thomas H. Dooley and Bobby L. Dooley. Shirley is survived by her loving daughter and son, Peggy A. (Freeze) Eisenhauer and Jeffrey A. Freeze; as well as her grandchildren, Shanna Eisenhauer Higgins, Stephanie Eisenhauer Wisniewski, Megan Freeze, Danielle Hudson Collier, Krista Hudson, Lydia Freeze, and Hannah Freeze. She also leaves behind her very loved and spoiled cat, Angel. Her hobbies included bowling, card games, and playing slot machines. She was a member of the Red Hat Society. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Shirley's name to Hospice Compassus, 583 Highland Crossing, Ste 120, Ellijay, GA 30540 or the Alzheimer's Association online at act.alz.org/donate. Friends and family are welcome to attend the memorial service, officiated by Neil Richey, on Saturday, October 6 at 2:00 p.m. at Kennesaw Memorial Park, 1306 Whitlock Ave, Marietta, GA. Her ashes will be interned on site.
