Shirley A. Patrick, 87 of South Sioux City passed away Sunday, November 10, 2024. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Thursday, November 14, 2024 at Hope Lutheran Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service time at the church. Burial will be at Graceland Park Cemetery at a later date.
Shirley was born the daughter of George and Nancy (Dreas) Chester on August 29, 1937 in South Sioux City, Nebraska. She graduated from South Sioux City High School. Shirley married David G. Patrick on July 13, 1958 in Sioux City. David passed away in 2012.
Shirley’s focus was always on her family. She dedicated her life to raising her children and caring for their home. Her home was open to all the kids of the neighborhood, and she quickly became the neighborhood block mother. The values and work ethic she modeled for her children live on in them today.
She was a gifted sketch artist and loved creating all kinds of crafts and home decor. She also did cross stitch.
Shirley was a longtime member of Hope Lutheran Church.
Shirley is survived by her children, Lynn (Marla) Patrick of Ft. Myers, FL, Kelvin (Mirasol) Patrick of Smithland, IA, Brad (Miriam) Patrick of Dakota City, NE, and Teresa (Terry Whelchel) Beatty of South Sioux City, NE; grandchildren, Matthew (Amanda), Ryan (Katie), Seth, Matthew, Nathan (Kelli), Justin (Kylie Fox), Zach (Alaina), Devin (Red), Jon (Serena), Thane, Kage, and Deon Harvey; great grandchildren, Mason, Shayanne, Reilly, Izabelle, Lucas, Thea, Francis, Harper, Scarlett, and Adriana; great great grandson, Jordan; and siblings, Bonnie Hoblit, Sharon Boyd, Karen Olejniczak, Georgia (Chuck) Leonard, and Jerry (Nancy) Chester.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, David; grandson, Joshua; brother in infancy, Gary; and brother, Eugene.
