Shirley passed away peacefully on a hot and humid summer day, July 14, 2025, in Woodbury, MN, after striving to overcome her deficits and decline from a stroke. Contrastingly, she was born during a winter storm and sub zero temps in Minneapolis MN, on January 22, 1943 to Leroy and Ann (Schumann) Greig. She grew up in Motley, MN, living initially "in town", and then "out at the farm" where she would recall many memories of farm life with her older brother Lee, and younger siblings John, and Mary. She graduated from Motley High School in 1961 and then went to Beauty College in St. Cloud. She was fortunate to have had two loves in her life. She married Larry Johnson in August 1960 and they had three children: Mark, Tim, and Jennifer over the next 5 years. They lived in Anoka, and St Paul, MN. After working as a beautician for several years, her profession became waitressing. It was while at work that she met her second love, Donn Peck, and they were married on May 12, 1975. And with that union, she added Julie, Donny, Bob, and Penny to her extended loving family. They moved to the "house on the lake" in Pine Springs, MN soon after, where they hosted many nights of playing cards and times with friends and family. Shirley worked as a Hostess at the Bali Hai, for several years, with many colorful stories to share from there. She also worked at times with Donn at his sales company. Together, her and Donn enjoyed many years of playing in golf and bowling leagues, and going out to Supper Clubs. Their favorite trips were to Vegas, "for the shows and buffets;)" and Arizona to golf. She was always eager to play Bingo or go to the casino. She loved living on the lake: showing her grandchildren things along the shore, looking out upon the water, and feeling that refreshing breeze. She cherished any and all visits from her children and grandchildren no matter where she was living and always looked forward to eating out with them as well. She is survived by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and generously includes the extended family she loved. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Larry Johnson, her father, her nephew Jeffrey Fahnlander, her husband Donn Peck, her mother, her older brother Lee, and her younger brother John. Visitation will be held from 11:00AM until 12:00PM Friday, July 18, 2025 at Sandberg Funeral and Cremation Services. Memorial Service will be held at 12:00PM Friday, July 18, 2025 at Sandberg Funeral and Cremation Services. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the American Diabetes Association.
