Shirley Salazar Obituary
Shirley Ann Salazar, age 77, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2024, in Brighton, Colorado. Born on April 23, 1947, in Pratt, Kansas to Farrell and Bertha (Novotny) Bennett, where Shirley spent the first years of her life, until her family moved to Wheat Ridge, Colorado where they resided for the rest of their days.
Shirley graduated from Wheat Ridge High School in 1965, and after high school she pursued a degree at the University of Northern Colorado in music education. She was married and had 2 children, Tammy and Kenny. She was a loving stay at home mom who kept the books for her family business.
In the next chapter of her life, she married Michael Salazar on November 28, 2017, and the two stayed happily married, and lived together in a beautiful home outside of Brighton.
Shirley was known as a baseball mom and grandmother. She loved the sport and loved watching her kids and grandchildren not only play baseball, but other sports like swimming, and football as well. Shirley was very active in her grandchildren's lives in more ways, also a favorite of hers was attending her Grandkids theatre events. She enjoyed life, loved to travel, and drove her Corvettes as much as she could. Shirley had such a love for these cars that in 2003 she joined a Corvette club, and they would meet up and race in public raceways. Bandimere Speedway being one of the more prominent ones. Shirley was full of life and a loving, caring mother and grandmother. She will be deeply missed.
Shirley is survived by her spouse, Michael Salazar of Brighton, CO. By four children: Tammy (Toby) Till, Henderson, CO, Kenny (Keri) Reiner, Thornton, CO, Amanda Gomez, Florence, AZ., Michael (Sean) Salazar, Malden, MA, and by her brother, Roger Bennett, Littleton, CO. Six Grandchildren: Makenna Reiner, Brayden Reiner, Ty Till, D'Angelise Gomez, Lizette Gomez (Marvin), Naveen Gomez, and one great grandchild, Athena May Gomez. Shirley is preceded in death by both parents, Farrell and Bertha (Novotny) Bennett. By sister-in-law, Diane Bennett and son-in-law, Jorge Gomez.
