Shirley Ann Salvatore, 80, of Bristol, passed away peacefully on Saturday (July 12, 2025) in the comfort of her own home surrounded by family. Shirley was born on June 6, 1945, in Simsbury and was the only daughter of the late Leopardo and Beatrice (Mastrianni) Salvatore. She was raised in Southington and resided in Bristol for most of her life. She was a long-time parishioner of St. Matthew and St. Gregory the Great Parish. Shirley worked many years for Airpax (Philips North American Corp) in Cheshire, Metallics in Bristol, and was a realtor for Select Realty Associates in Bristol before her retirement. Shirley was a long-time member of the Bristol Democratic Town Committee, served on the Mum Festival Committee and was elected to the Bristol Board of Assessment Appeals for five terms. She also loved vacationing on Captiva Island. After Shirley sold her home, she moved to Birchwood Trail where she was surrounded by the best friends and neighbors. They threw many parking lot parties and shared lots of laughs. She leaves behind the other Golden Girls to carry on the legacy and her dear friend Sylvia, the Thelma to her Louise. Shirley was happy to celebrate her 80th birthday in June with family, friends, and all those she loved. She faced a year of illness with strength and grace before passing away peacefully. Shirley is survived by two children: Atty. Dean Kilbourne and wife, Linda, and Kim Kilbourne, both of Bristol; four grandchildren: Olivia and Victoria Kilbourne and Austin and Hayden Michele; a brother: Leo Salvatore and wife, Patricia of Avon and niece and nephew: Stacy and Kevin; and many cousins. The family would like to extend a special thank-you to Donna who helped us take care of our mom in her final days. Funeral services will be held on Thursday (July 17, 2025) at 10:30 a.m. from Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, to St. Matthew Church, 120 Church St., Bristol for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m.. Burial will follow in Simsbury Cemetery, 16 Plank Hill Rd., Simsbury. Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday between 5 and 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
