Shirley Elizabeth Stevens, age 89, of Higdon, Alabama, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, January 25, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Shirley was born on June 29, 1936, to the late Vester and Clara Pettus Clark. Her life was rooted in her love for family and her unwavering faith. She loved her family dearly and took great pride in caring for them. An excellent cook and devoted homemaker, Shirley had a gift for gathering her family around the table, where countless meals turned into lasting memories. She also enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening, and canning. Shirley was a faithful member of Higdon Free Holiness Church.

She is survived by her children, Jimmy (June) Reeves and Rita Wooten; grandchildren, Cindy (Jeremy) Gilbert, Emily Hall, and Adam (Ryen) Reeves; and great-grandchildren, Paisley Gilbert and Abigail (Kaleb) Baker.

In addition to her parents, Shirley is preceded in death by her husband, William Carl Stevens, Sr.; grandparents, James S. and Sarah V. Clark; and siblings, James (Mary) Clark, Felton (Lynn) Clark, Jimmy (Marie) Clark, Marshall (Hazel) Clark, Wilmus (Merle) Levens, Janie (Doyle), Vestula (Henry) Woods, Betty Christopher, and Maudie (Cecil) Harmon.

A funeral service to celebrate Shirley’s life will be held on Thursday, January 29th at 1:00 PM ET in the Larry Moore Memorial Chapel of Moore Funeral Home. Brother Edwin Spurgeon, Brother David Higdon, and Pastor Wayne Moody will officiate the service. She will be laid to rest at Ebenezer Cemetery in Bryant, Alabama.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM ET and on Thursday from 11:00 AM until the service hour.

Shirley’s life was a beautiful reflection of quiet strength, deep love, and steadfast faith. Though she will be deeply missed, her gentle spirit and loving example will continue to guide and comfort her family for years to come.
