Shirley Taylor (October 12th 1936–January 27th 2024)
Shirley was a devoted Mother and grandmother and had the joy of becoming a Great Grandmother. She was social and enjoyed playing bingo, going to church, and spending time with family and Friends. In her younger years, she was active in square dancing and traveled the US to square dancing conventions. She was a travel enthusiast and would do summer road trips with her late husband Bill, traveling the country and in particular visiting historical sites.
Shirley, 87, of Wichita, KS died at St Francis Hospital in Wichita on January 27th, 2024.
She was born to Annabell and Herald Doak and spent the majority of her youth in Yates Center, KS.
She met her husband Bill while attending college and Emporia State University and then moved to Wichita where she resided the rest of her life and raised her family.
Shirley's husband Bill proceeded her in death in 2006. She is survived by her children Barbara Meyer and husband Doug Meyer, Ric Taylor and wife Elaine Taylor, Krista Dixon and husband Kermit Dixon and Grandchildren Andrew Potter, Sarah Herold, Matthew Potter, Ariana Claassen, Alex Taylor and Great Grandchildren Graham and Dani Potter.
Shirley attended church at Metropolitan Baptist Church in Wichita, KS where she in particular enjoyed the fellowship of her Sunday School class where she was beloved by her fellow classmates.
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Friday, February 2nd, at DeVorss Flanagan-Hunt Mortuary, Funeral Services for Shirley will be held at DeVorss Flanagan-Hunt Mortuary at 201 S Hydraulic St, in Wichita Ks, on Saturday February 3rd at 10am, followed by burial services at Resthaven and a celebration of life reception at The Larkspur at 904 E Douglas, 12:00 – 2:00.
