COHOES Shirley V. Taylor, 93, of Bridge Ave. passed away peacefully Thursday September 25, 2025 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Cohoes she was the daughter of the late Olaf and Elna Wien Tofte. She was a graduate of Troy High School.
She had been employed for 18 years at Standard Manufacturing Co. in Troy. Prior to that she worked at the former Barclay Home Products in Cohoes. Her favorite job though was being a fur model for the former Lord and Tan Store in Troy.
Shirley had served as Secretary for the PTA at School #1 in Cohoes. She also was a Cub Scout Den Mother. She enjoyed reading, going to flea markets and walking. But she especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
She is the loving mother of Paul Taylor (Vicki Taylor) of Camp Hill, PA and Sandra Taylor (Tish Brownell) of Leesburg, FL. She is the sister of Sylvia Baker of Greenwich, the late Elaine Hare, Marilyn DeLong and Paul Tofte. She is the proud grandmother of Monica Wells (Paul Johnson), Rachel LeMatty, Joshua Finkle (Sara Loux-Finkle), Kayci Finkle and the late Jeffrey Gariepy (Amy Gariepy) and great grandmother of Noah, Ryley, Samuel, Ezmeigh, Ellna, Addison, Taylor, Hannah, Briana, Vivianna, Autumn, Atticus and the late Bradley and great great grandmother of Audrey.
Funeral services will be Monday at 10 am at Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home 133 Broad St. (Rte. 32), Waterford. Interment will be in Waterford Rural Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home on Sunday from 3-6 pm.
