Uxbridge- Shirley A. (Benjamin) Tellier, 91, formerly of Calumet Ct., passed away on Tues. Oct. 28, 2025. She is predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Romeo J. "Romy T." Tellier who died on Dec. 23, 2008.
She is survived by her son Thomas Tellier of N. Grafton and his wife Carol; her daughters Nancy A. Marshall and her husband Scott of Uxbridge and Elizabeth Jeanne "Betty Jeanne" Hewett and her husband Kenneth of Richmond, RI; 7 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild on the way; a sister, Loretta "Mickey" Bertrand of Uxbridge, a special niece Evelyn Leslie, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Henry T. "Chum" Benjamin, Edna "Pat" Courtemanche, Florence Demers, and Betty Ruth "Ruthie" O'Shea.
Born in Uxbridge, on March 22, 1934, she was the daughter of Henry J. and Elizabeth (Maynes) Benjamin and was raised in Uxbridge. Shirley graduated from Uxbridge High School class of 1952. She spent time in Washington State, Tennessee and Sutton before returning to Uxbridge in 1993.
Shirley's work career started at Whitin Machine Works where she met the love of her life, Romeo. After taking some time off to raise her family, she returned to work in the office at Nelmor Co., moving on to food service in the Uxbridge Public School system, where she rose through the ranks to became the Director of Food Services. She continued as Director of Food Services at Beaumont Nursing Home before deciding to travel to Washington state to be with her first grandchild. Another move brought her to Tennessee where she was employed by Connectors and Controls Company.
She was also a very talented musician. As a child, she played guitar and sang with her sisters, performing throughout the northeast and into Canada in a group called The Texas Dollies. Later, she and her husband had a very successful quartet (with her sister Mickey and Mickey's husband, Paul) called the Romy T. Quartet, then the Romy T. Quintet. In her later years, she and her sister Mickey performed with The Esquires big band.
A lifelong member of St. Mary church, she was a prayer warrior. She was a member of St. Mary choir and was one of the founding members of the St. Mary prayer shawl ministry. Above all, Mrs. Tellier was a woman who cherished her family and was happiest spending time together with them.
Her Funeral Mass will be held on Mon. Nov. 3 at 11 am in St. Mary Church, 77 Mendon St., Uxbridge. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Calling hours at Tancrell-Jackman Funeral Home, 35 Snowling Rd., Uxbridge will be held Sun. Nov. 2 from 4-7. Memorial donations may be made to The
