Shirley Anne Todd

Shirley Anne Todd, age 85, of North Adams, passed away on Monday, December 8, 2025, at the Hillsdale County Medical Care Facility. She was born on July 22, 1940, in Jerome, to Colburn and Barbara (Shaw) Peters.
Shirley graduated from North Adams High School in 1958. For many years, Shirley drove school bus for North Adams Schools. Together with her husband, she co-owned and operated Todd's Tavern in North Adams, the North Adams Convenience Store, and they also managed Carriage Park Apartments in Hillsdale for 10 years. No stranger to hard work, Shirley also worked a second and sometimes third job at Big Lots, Cottage Inn, Broad Street Market, and the former Bud's Market in Jerome. She enjoyed caring for her houseplants, spending time in her gardens, bird watching, bowling, crocheting, and coloring. Shirley also loved a good country song, fast cars, and NASCAR, especially her favorite driver, Jeff Gordon. Her pride and joy was her beloved family and grandchildren.
Survivors include four children, Barb (Rob) Campbell of Hillsdale, Ritch (Diane) Todd Jr. of North Adams, Dede Abbott of Hillsdale, and Brandi (Mike) Hambright of Jonesville; twelve grandchildren, Cassandra Housand, Jamie (Joni) Luke, Rich Todd, Autumn Todd, Nick Todd, Nathan Todd, Marissa Todd, Danielle (Justin) Smilowksi, Devin Abbott, J.T. (Brittany) Pankhurst, Brianna Hambright, and Keidra Hambright; fourteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by one grandson, Jeremy Luke; one son-in-law, Kevin Abbott; three sisters, Pasty Gordon, Judy Crall, and Kathy Vessey; one brother, Edward Peters; and her former spouse, Dick Todd.
A celebration of life for Shirley Todd will be announced at a future time. Arrangements have been made under the guidance of VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale.
