John Todd Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Haisten McCullough Funeral Home on Dec. 10, 2025.
John Harry Todd, Jr. passed away, Monday December 8, 2025 at Brightmoor Hospice.

Harry was born August 3, 1931 in Anderson, SC. He was the son of the late John Harry Todd, Sr. and Ina Mays Todd. He served honorably in the United States Navy during the Korean War. After service in the war, he began a career with the Federal Aviation Administration in Florence, SC and was transferred to the Hampton Center in 1971 where he retired in 1989. After retirement, he worked as an administrator with First Baptist Church of Griffin, where he was a life deacon, and a member of the Russell Sunday School class. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Griffin for 34 years, serving in many roles, including Treasurer. Harry also served on staff at Haisten McCullough Funeral Home for several years where his genuine concern for the families he served brought comfort to many.

In addition to his parents, Harry was preceded in death his loving wife of 69 years, Peggy Joanne Todd and his brother William Todd. Harry was loving, patient, soft-spoken, and steady in the quiet way that mattered most-a gentle presence whose kindness shaped the lives of everyone around him. He poured his heart into his church, his volunteer work, and his community, always giving more than he took. But nothing brought him greater happiness than the moments spent with the people he loved most-his wife, his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Harry loved camping and golf and was a man of many talents. He built boats, crafted real and model airplanes, and approached each creation with meticulous care.

Survivors include a daughter, Terry Gaskin and husband Joe of Kennesaw; two sons, Richard Todd and wife Libby of Griffin, and David Todd, also of Griffin; grandchildren, Chris Gaskin and wife Jill of Cumming, Tracey Gaskin of Marietta, Hayley Perry and husband Arthur of Griffin, Megan Barnhart and husband Dillon of Brooks, Shelley Strickland and husband Hunter of Meansville, Adrianne Fritsche and husband Zach of Griffin, and Chase Todd, also of Griffin; fourteen great-grandchildren; sister Barbara Williams of Anderson, SC; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews also survive.

A memorial service celebrating the life of John Harry Todd, Jr. will be conducted Friday, December 19, 2025 at 1:00 PM in the sanctuary of the First Baptist Church of Griffin with Senior Pastor Steven Norris officiating. The family will visit with friends following the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the First Baptist Church Endowment Fund, PO Box 908 Griffin, GA 30224. Make checks payable to FBC of Griffin, Ga. Endowment Foundation, Inc. In the memo line of the check: In memory of Harry Todd
