Shirley Truschke (née Hanke), age 94, of Blue Island, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 8, 2025.
Born on January 3, 1931, in Chicago, Illinois, Shirley was the beloved daughter of the late Kenneth and the late Emily Hanke. She was preceded in death by her cherished husband, Edward J. Truschke, with whom she shared a loving marriage until his passing on February 26, 2008. Shirley is the devoted mother of the late Donald, Richard (Nancy), and Edward, Jr. She is the adored grandmother of Michelle (Ryan) Nutile, Kimberly (Ryan) Doody, Sara (Kyle) Kusch, and Jason Truschke, and the proud great-grandmother of Raegan, Reese, Dylan, Weston, Rian, Jaymes, Emerson, and Aria.
She is also survived by her dear brother Jerry (Sue) Hanke, along with many other relatives and friends who will continue to cherish her memory.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 15, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Krueger Funeral Home, 13050 Greenwood Ave., Blue Island.
Funeral services will continue on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Krueger Funeral Home, followed by interment at Beverly Cemetery, Blue Island.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Shirley's memory may be made to St. Peter and St. Paul Lutheran Church, 13153 Greenwood Ave, PO Box 608, Blue Island, IL 60406.
Shirley's life was one of love, compassion, and faith. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew her.
