Shirley Maxine Whichard, 88, of Gatesville, North Carolina, passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday, March 25th, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born in Chesapeake, Virginia, Shirley lived a life rooted in kindness, generosity, and unwavering devotion to those she loved. She was the kind of person who would give the shirt off her back to anyone in need, always putting others before herself.
Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bruce Whichard Sr.; her parents, John Amos Morgan and Geneva Morgan; her daughter, Janet Eure; her sister, Helen White; and her brothers, Buddy Morgan and Billy Morgan.
She leaves behind a loving family who will cherish her memory forever, including her three children: Cheryl Ricks (Roy), Bruce Whichard Jr. (Debbie), and Keith Whichard; her son-in-law, Donnie Eure; and her many grandchildren: Michelle, Christie, Lisa, Kenny, Michael, Nicole, Brittany, Trent, Chase, Ashley, and Bryan; 14 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Shirley found her greatest joy in spending time with her family. She loved cooking for those she cared about and could often be found enjoying her favorite game shows. Her home was always open, and her heart even more so.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 31st, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home in Gatesville, North Carolina. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 2nd, at 2:00 p.m. at Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home Chapel in Gatesville, North Carolina.
