Known by many as Shirley, but fondly called “Ann” by her parents and siblings, “Wife” by her husband Leroy, “Mom” by her children, and “Granny” by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, peacefully departed her earthly journey on Wednesday, April 10, 2024. Before embracing her Eternal Peace, she had one last moment to hear her beloved husband Leroy say, "I love you. I have loved you all my life."

Shirley was born to William Thomas and Della Eades in Lexington, Kentucky, Shirley was one of nine siblings. She radiated joy as a cheerleader at Athens High School before intertwining her destiny with Leroy during her senior year. Their love story blossomed into a marriage on June 17, 1959, later graced by the birth of their four children: Jeffrey, Tracey, Patrick, and Leroy Jr.

Together, along with their children, Shirley and Leroy harmonized their voices as "The Wilson Family," sharing their musical talents in churches and many other venues. Their journey led them to Nashville, Tennessee, where they produced and released an album encapsulating their passion for music. Shirley's involvement in promoting The Wilson Family showcased her passion for inspiring others.

Shirley found much joy in her role as the Church Secretary at the First Baptist Church of Elgin for over ten years. Later, alongside Leroy, she played an integral part in establishing Cedar Valley Baptist Church in 1988, and Elgin New Life Fellowship in 2012.

Waiting to embrace her in Heaven are her parents; five brothers, Ray, Albert, Winfred, Walter, and Bruce; sister, Nancy Baker; and grandson, William.

She leaves behind a legacy cherished by her loving husband of over 64 years,  Leroy; her four children, Jeffrey and wife Lisa, Tracey and husband David Cliff, Patrick and wife Pamila, and Leroy Jr.; her two sisters, Doris Taylor, and Brenda Clos; her 14 grandchildren Stephen and wife Nicole, Melissa, and husband Allen, Leann and Husband Caleb, Rachel Ann and husband Brian, Tyler and wife Kimberly, Adam, Annalise and husband Ben, Alec, and fiancé Alaina, Patrick and wife Lexx, Anson, Benjamin, Jessica, Stone; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.

Whether you knew her as Shirley, Ann, Mom, or Granny, her love for Jesus, her family, playing the piano, singing, traveling, her swan collection, the beach, painting, shown through by enjoying every day to its fullest.  Her laugh, accompanied by her contagious smile, will be missed by all who knew and loved her.  She will forever be remembered for her Christian love and generous nature.  While we mourn her loss, we take great solace in the confidence that she is with God in Heaven.

Family and Friends will gather for Visitation at Elgin New Life Fellowship, Wednesday, April 17th from 10:00 AM, followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00 AM with Pastor Jeff Wilson presiding.  Following services at the church, she will be laid to rest at Pleasant Grove Cemetery.   Serving with grace and honor as Pallbearers are:  Stephen Wilson, Alec Wilson, Patrick Wilson, Anson Wilson, Stone Wilson, Caleb Johnson, Allen Castilla, and Ben Higgs.
