Shirley Wilson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kernodle Funeral Home - Wynne on Dec. 1, 2025.
Shirley Lenora Andrews Wilson, 81, of Wynne, Arkansas, passed away on November 29, 2025. She lived in Cross County her whole life, except for two years in Michigan. Shirley graduated from Wynne High School in 1961. In her senior year, she began working for Lane Insurance and Accounting, keeping books for H. F. Henson and Sons. When Henson moved their accounting in-house, she continued working with them for more than 12 years. She later worked for Case Equipment Company, Deloss McKnight, and United Medical. Shirley retired after being diagnosed with colon cancer, which she survived.

Shirley was a lifelong member of the Assemblies of God and attended Wynne First Assembly whenever she could. She loved singing and listening to gospel music. Watching game shows was another favorite pastime, and she was always the best at solving the puzzles, outshining her family. Most of all, she cherished time with her family, and they cherished her just as much. She was a truly virtuous woman who was deeply loved and respected.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harrison and Pearl Woody Andrews; her brothers, H. J., Jerry, and Ricky Andrews; her sister and best friend, Edna Pauline Pierce; and her husband, Newton Wilson. She is survived by her children: William A. Rushing and his wife, Tabitha of Oakland, Tennessee; Steve L. Rushing and his wife, Angela of Vanndale; and Cynthia (Cindy) Mitchell of Wynne. She is also survived by her brother, Eli Andrews of Wynne. Her grandchildren are Nickie, Chris, Naomi, Logan, Seth, Preston, Brandy, Cody, Josh, Preston, Justin, and Corey. She leaves behind 30 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren, and 2 more on the way.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at Kernodle Funeral Home from 6 to 8 PM. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at 10 AM at Kernodle Funeral Home, and burial will be in Vanndale Cemetery. Rev. Gary Andrews and Rev. Matt Hodges will officiate.

Memorials can be made to Wynne First Assembly of God, P. O. Box 1085 Wynne, Arkansas 72396.
