Sidney Charles Dixon, affectionately known as Charles, was born January 2, 1953 in Charleston, Missouri to Sidney Dixon and Mabel Bankhead Thomas. Charles was one of six children. He loved his five sisters very much and was always willing to do what he could to help them.
He was a graduate of Charleston High School in Charleston, Missouri. For a while, he worked stocking shelves at the Walmart Store in Charleston.
He served in the United States Air Force and received an honorable discharge in 1974. He was someone who didn’t ask much of the world but still gave his service to it.
Charles was a quiet man. Even if he didn’t keep many people close, his life had value and his service to his country made a difference. He carried his own burdens quietly, and we are comforted knowing he is at peace.
On Monday, December 1, 2025 Charles was taken from our midst at the age of 72 years, ten months, and 30 days.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Pearl, Mildred Thomas Morris, Shirley Smith, and Marjorie Leatherwood. Charles will be missed by his sister, Alice Dixon, his friend and caretaker, Loubertha Hollomon, his niece, Donna Buckner, and his nephew, Robby Smith.
“He respected me as a sister. I am happy to have known him.”
Loubertha Hollomon
