He passed on from this life on October 31st, 2025. Sidney was born in Many and raised in Florien all his life, and was a man of many different talents and capabilities. Sidney served our nation for 8 years in the Army, and that was the only time he was away from home. He would then come back and begin many different career paths, from commercially farming cattle and chickens to owning his own convenience, hardware, and gun store in Hornbeck, named S & J Family Store and the Hole In The Wall Gun Shop for many years. Not only was he talented in his careers, but he was very much dedicated to his community. He would serve on many different committees and boards including the Florien Cemetery, where he served as president. Sidney also would be elected as a member of the Sabine Parish School Board and would play a pivotal role in bringing some of the biggest grants to Sabine Parish. Sidney also had a deep love for any kind of gardening, whether it was growing tomatoes, or ferns that would be used for his community at events. Most importantly, Sidney loved his family and cared for them tremendously. He would work tirelessly to help provide for them in any way that he could. Sidney will be truly missed and will forever be loved by all those who had the honor of knowing him. Preceding him in death was his wife of 54 years Evelyn Jeannette Lucius; son Sidney Young Lucius Jr.; parents Alfred and Nellie Lucius; brother Dr. Dan Lucius Jr; and sisters Katherine Brumley and Claire Thompson. Those left to cherish his memory are his sons Jason Lucius of Florien and Sam Lucius (Joyce) of Anacoco; daughter Joan Trepanier (Wayne) of Olympia, Washington; grandchildren Ethan Perkins of Texas City, Texas and Sidney Lucius III of Leesville and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
