Deacon Sidney Eugene Odums

Deacon Sidney Eugene Odums was born in Clearwater, Florida to Robert "Bob" Odums and Susie Croskey Odums. He was raised in the area known as the Heights.
He attended Pinellas High School, graduating from Clearwater High School, Class of 1968. He was an all-star football player, until he experienced a shoulder injury. He continued his educational goals graduating from St. Petersburg College and attending the University of South Florida.
At the age of 17, he became employed with the Clearwater Lumber Yard, which later became known as Scotty's Lumber Company, where he retired after 35 years of service. Wanting to make a difference in the lives of young people, he worked an additional 15 years with the Pinellas County School Board.
He was a member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church, where he served faithfully as a Deacon for over 40 years. He loved singing in the Male Chorus and praying. Deacon Odums and his wife, Mattie led hundreds through the New Members Orientation Ministry.
Deacon Odums was preceded in death by his father, Robert Odums, his mother, Susie Odums, brother, Robert Odums, William Robinson, sister, Jackie Williams, fathers-in-law, Deacon John Jenkins and Reverend Samuel Flagler and mother-in-law, Bernice Jenkins.
He leaves to honor his legacy

Grandchildren: Tori Odums, Mariah Knight, Sidney Odums III and Solomon Odums
Great grandchildren: Channing and Camille Reed
Brothers-in-law: Samuel Flagler and John Jenkins
Sisters-in-law: Deborah Jackson and Victoria Robinson
Goddaughter: Kayla Samuel
