Sidney E. Phillips

Sidney E. Phillips, a resident of Daphne, Alabama, passed away on Monday, December 16, 2025, at the age of 89.

Sidney was a veteran of the United States Air Force. Following his service to his country, Sidney owned and operated dry-cleaning businesses in and around Mobile, Alabama, and later served as a property appraiser for Mobile County before retiring.

An avid sports enthusiast, Sidney could often be found watching sports, especially when they featured his alma mater, Auburn University (War Eagle!). Sidney was a true father figure to his three grandsons and a model by whom they aspired. He enjoyed spending time with all his family and was a dedicated father, grandfather, friend, and mentor to everyone he loved.

He was preceded in death by his wife and the love of his life for over 70 years, Marylyn (Whigham) Phillips; his parents; and two brothers.

Sidney is survived by his three daughters, Cheryl Conway, Kim Shirley, and Lyn Griffin; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; his sister, Carol Whatley; and many other loving family members and friends.

A celebration of Sidney and Marylyn is planned for early 2026.
