Sidney F. Scotting, age 92, of Watertown, SD, was called from this world of sin and sorrow, sickness and pain to the glorious victory celebration in heaven on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at the local hospital. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at St. Martins Lutheran Church in Watertown. Rev. Paul Kuckhahn will officiate. Music will be provided by Matt Weseloh as organist.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 on Wednesday at the church.
Sidney's mortal remains will be laid to rest at Mt. Hope Cemetery to await the resurrection of all flesh. Active pallbearers will be Paul Parenteau, Alex Emery, Steve Jones, Mike Holthe, Craig Emery, and Kathy Scotting.
Sidney was born on August 9, 1931, in Worthington, Minnesota. By god's sustaining grace he remained in his faith all the days of his life.
On October 22, 1951, Sidney married Cara Nyhus. The lord blessed them with a daughter, Kathy and a son Thomas. On July 25, 1992, Sidney married Kathryn Parenteau, at which time he was blessed to welcome a stepdaughter, Evelyn Parenteau and a stepson, Paul Parenteau into his life.
Sidney is survived by his wife, Kathryn; one son, Thomas Scotting; one daughter, Kathy Scotting; one stepdaughter, Evelyn Parenteau; one stepson, Paul Parenteau; three sisters, Bess Lingen, Fran Deruyter, Cindy Engbarth; one brother, Lloyd Scotting; two grandchildren, Leslie Jones, Danielle, Holthe; three great-grandchildren, Micala, Burns, Hannah Jones, Peyton Scotting; and two step-grandchildren, Jamie Emery, Alex Emery.
Sidney is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Margaret; four sisters, Grace Baumgard, Pearl Hibma, Ethel Tenhove and Ruth Johnson.
They who die in the lord are blessed from henceforth even forevermore.
