In Loving Memory of Sigrid Irene Hunter
June 1, 1942 – July 10, 2025
New Baltimore, Michigan
With deep love and heartfelt sorrow, we announce the passing of Sigrid Irene Hunter on July 10, 2025, at the age of 83. A devoted wife, loving mother, and fiercely independent spirit, Sigrid lived her life with unwavering authenticity, courage, and a boundless passion for adventure.
Born in Beuthen Oberschlesien, Germany, on June 1, 1942, Sigrid's life journey was nothing short of extraordinary. From her early years in Europe to her adventures across the world, she embraced each chapter with resilience and curiosity. She was a woman who never pretended to be anything other than herself. Sigrid lived boldly, stayed true to her beliefs, and never compromised her principles for approval or popularity. Her strength was found in her sincerity-she was genuine to her core.
Sigrid loved to travel and sought out new experiences with a fearless heart. Whether it was crossing continents or exploring nearby places, she had a gift for finding wonder wherever she went. To be loved by Sigrid was to be loved with intensity and honesty. She gave her love freely-but always on her terms. Her affection wasn't always soft, but it was always real. Her family and friends knew they were deeply cherished-sometimes in quiet ways, always in lasting ones.
Sigrid is survived by her beloved sons, Patrik Hunter and John C. Hunter, and her treasured grandchildren, who will continue to carry her strength and spirit forward. She is now reunited with her late husband, John W. Hunter, and her beloved son, Mike Hunter.
Sigrid lived life her way-boldly, fiercely, and fully. In her memory, her family invites you to honor her legacy by staying true to yourself, embracing life's adventures, and loving with your whole heart. We will be honoring her memory on Thursday July 17th at 10am, Great Lakes Military Cemetery where she can rest with my Father. https://www.cem.va.gov/cems/nchp/GreatLakes.asp
