Sumter, SC..Silas Cockerill, age 65, passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at his residence.
Silas was born in Sumter, SC, a son of the late Joe Cockerill and the late Mae Mixon. Silas was a creative and artistic person who loved to work with his hands. He particularly enjoyed woodworking, painting, and building. He also enjoyed collecting antiques whenever he could. He was a generous and kind person who would give you the shirt off his back. He loved out loud and with no regrets. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Silas is survived by his brothers; Leroy Cockerill, Mikey Cockerill, John Cockerill, and Newton Cockerill, his sisters; Barbara Baker, Libby Hutto, Rosemary Nesbitt, and Ruth Dixon as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Eddie Cockerill, Thomas Cockerill and Caesar Cockerill, and his nephew, Thomas Cockerill.
