Funeral services for Mr. Simmie Ray Edwards, Sr. will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Friday, December 30, 2022, in the Chapel of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville, with Reverend Douglas Freeman officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Ball, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville.
Mr. Edwards, 90, formerly of Flatwoods, and living in Alexandria, entered eternal rest on Monday, December 26, 2022, at Rapides Regional Medical Center, Alexandria, LA.
Ray proudly served in the Army National Guard. He was happily married to Mary Vinson Edwards for sixty-five years, and they were together for sixty-seven years. He was a retired school bus driver with the Rapides Parish School Board. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Archie, Sr. and Louise Edwards; his son, Simmie Edwards, Jr.; and two brothers, Floyd Edwards and Jimmy Edwards.
Those left to mourn his loss and cherish his memory include his loving wife of sixty-five years, Mary Vinson Edwards of Alexandria; three brothers, Archie Edwards, Jr. of Alexandria, Richard Edwards, and his wife, Linda, of Cotile, and Eddie LC Edwards of Baton Rouge; four sisters, Myrtle Olson of Alexandria, Virgie Jones, and her husband, Gary, of Baton Rouge, Eloise Luke of Cotile, and Betty Linscomb of Spring, Texas; three grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
A time of visitation will be held at Rush Funeral Home, Pineville, on Friday, December 30, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. until time of services.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are: Jeremy Edwards, Timmy Luke, Beau Edwards, Jason Edwards, Thomas Guild, and George Guild.
