Simona G Huerta

Simona G. Huerta, affectionately known by all as Simona, departed this life on February 22, 2026, in Odessa, Texas, at the age of 98. Born on October 28, 1927, in Colorado City, Texas, to the late Trinidad and Juana (Hernandez) Grado, Simona was a beacon of strength, love, and resilience throughout her remarkable life.

Simona's legacy is one of unwavering love and devotion to her family, characterized by her roles as a housewife, cook, cleaner, partner, caregiver, and a mother whose greatness was known by all who had the privilege of being part of her life. In her own quiet and steadfast manner, Simona provided a warm and nurturing home for her family, always ensuring that no one would leave her house without feeling the warmth of her care and a full belly from her lovingly prepared meals.

In her younger days, Simona, alongside her beloved husband, Matias Huerta, who preceded her in death, could often be found dancing, singing, and rejoicing in the beautiful life they built together. Their love story was one for the ages, and the memories of their joyous moments continue to inspire their family.

Simona is survived by her adoring sons, Santiago Huerta of Plainview, Adan and spouse San Juanita Huerta of Odessa, Efrain and spouse NorBerta Huerta of Odessa, Simon Huerta, and Martin Reyes of Hale Center. She also leaves behind her cherished daughters, Guadalupe and spouse Ramon Lujan of Odessa, Irma and spouse Jairo Lomas of Odessa. Her legacy extends to a multitude of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, who will deeply miss her presence, guidance, and unconditional love.

As we bid farewell to Simona, we honor a life well-lived, a matriarch cherished, and a soul that has undoubtedly earned its place in the heavens. Her stories, her lessons, and her love will continue to live within the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. Simona G. Huerta's journey on earth may have concluded, but her influence will resonate for eternity.

Pall Bearers will be Devin Egnew, Jairo Lomas JR., Adan Huerta JR and Efrain Huerta JR. Honorary Pall Bearer Jase Lomas.

Mass of Celebration 1 PM Thursday February 26, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Rosehill Section at Ector County Cemetery.
