Sindgi Dattu Sastry, 83 yr of age, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on June 22, 2025. He was born in Kampli, India in 1942 to Sakharam and Parvati Bhat. Having grown up as the eldest son of 8 children in rural India, his incredible ambition and intellect took him to places that he could only dream of as a child, earning a PhD in chemistry and immigrating to the United States of America in 1967. Once in the US, he was not done, working his way up through the world of flavor chemistry and finally achieving the ultimate American dream, starting his own company manufacturing food flavors, named Jogue Corporation in 1982. From there, he grew Jogue Corporation with his quiet determination and skill into one of the leading suppliers of food flavors, all the while growing his family with his loving wife, Pushpavati and raising two sons, Ashok and Anil.
He was a great father and devoted husband who always led by example and was the ultimate role model for friends and family alike. His generosity towards others extended beyond his family here and in India to friends and employees as he always took time to help others. His philanthropic efforts at Wayne State University have also provided scholarships to many students over the years in the School of Medicine and Law, helping to cultivate the next generation of physicians and attorneys. He was one of a kind who will be missed dearly by the whole community. He is survived by his wife, Pushpavati, his sons, Ashok(Shree) and Anil(Amy) and his grandchildren, Shail, Arav, Priya, and Naveen.
