SJSM MARY ANN OJNIK formerly Mary Gabriel Sr.

Mary Ann Ojnik (formerly Sister Mary Gabriel, SJSM) Age 66, passed on Sept. 5th, 2025, at Ohman Family Living at Blossom.

She is the beloved daughter of the late Henry and Anka (nee Lukanc) Ojnik. She was born and raised in the Cleveland area. Most of her teenage years were spent with her cousins Thomas Vales, Elizabeth Vales, Jennie Higgins, and Anthony Vales (deceased); beloved cousin of Bonnie Davis and Katherine Higgins; cousin and Godmother of Brianna, Joseph, and Alexandria Davis who she loved to spend time with; life-long friend of Jane "Jacinta" Korienek; also all her friends that gave her lots of love and appreciation over the years.

Mary Ann loved photography and took classes on photography, taking lots of pictures of the ones she loved, flowers, and nature; she loved animals especially cats, her cats, Bonnie that passed and Mary. She was proud of her Slovenian heritage as a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Collinwood. Mary Ann is one of the five founding members of the Diocese of Cleveland Sodality of Catholic Nurses. After earning her nursing degree, Mary Ann was a former member of the sisters of St. Joseph, St. Mark at Mount St. Joseph in Euclid where she was the Director of Nursing. She also worked at University Hospitals of Cleveland main campus in the psych department, Hospice of the Western Reserve, Richmond Hts. Hospital, and a case manager at Tri Point Medical Center. Her favorite nursing specialty was psych.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday Sept. 13, 2025 at 10 AM at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 15519 Holmes Ave. in Cleveland (PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH). Burial will take place at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon.

The family will receive friends at Brickman Bros. Funeral Home, 37433 Euclid Ave. in Willoughby on Friday Sept, 12 from 2-7 PM.
