Mrs. Soledad Gatdula Rodriguez

A LIFE WELL LIVED Soledad Gatdula Rodriguez, 92 years old, died on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center in Los Angeles, California after a massive stroke. Her strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, and the love and support of family served an inspiration for her to enjoy life despite of the passing of her husband, Cayetano Cortez Rodriguez on January 28,1994 and her son Ricardo on July 4, 1995, twenty years ago. Soledad was born on November 12, 1922 in the Municipality of Tanza, Cavite, Philippines. She was the middle child to the seven children of Delfin Gatdula and Felipa Cenizal Gatdula. Due to her strong desire to live in Manila, she left her family in Cavite and went to Manila where she met and married Cayetano. Married for 69 years, Soledad and Cayetano raised their seven children, Ricardo, Teresita, Nelminia, Florita, Cynthia, Perla and Cayetano Jr, in Manila. She cared for her family through delicious cooking. A woman of faith and the Heart of the Rodriguez family, Soledad shaped their spirituality by her catholic values, prayers and shared advocacy of generosity. With a real zest for life, Soledad loved to sing, pray, play crosswords puzzle and game cards especially with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed travelling. Soledad is known for her ease and ability to converse with even total strangers. She possessed an entertaining sense of humor, enjoyed listening to humorous stories shared by family and friends. Her signature of joy, laughter and joking around will never be forgotten. She is survived by her six children, Teresita, Nelminia, Florita, Cynthia, Perla and Cayetano Jr. and sixteen grandchildren: Jeanette, Judith, Roderick, Ricardo Jr., Danilo Jr., April, Hazel, Heidi, Harris, Harold, Harvy, Kristine, Kyle, Therese Jean, Joana Therese, Michael, and great grandchildren.
