Sollie Cadman, 77, of Lander, Wyoming, died on April 11, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family. His funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, May 2nd, at Holy Rosary Catholic church.
Sollie was born on 12/24/1947, minutes after his twin brother Ted, to parents Gerald and Sarah Cadman in Billings, MT.
Sollie graduated from FCVHS in Lander in 1966. He served his country for 6 years in the National Guard. In December of 1967, he married his high school sweetheart, Claudette Sherrow. They had three children, Shelly, Angela, and Jack. He worked at US Steel as a mechanic until its closure in 1983. He attended CWC and graduated, with honors, in 1986. Sollie was known for his analytical mind, his problem-solving abilities, and his absolute love of mathematics. When he was in college, he completed every problem in his physics textbook "for fun." He was a master cribbage player and "skunked" many an unsuspecting competitor. His true passion was flying. He could be found almost every weekend flying the model planes he would build himself. He would come home and say, "I tapped out my fun meter today!" He would spend the rest of the week repairing, building, and rebuilding his planes. He was the Vice President of the Wyoming Modelers Association.
Most people knew Sollie from his many years of working at the city of Lander for the Weed and Pest department. Sollie helped build Wyoming's reputation as the leader in invasive species management. His influence has been large, from working with Wyoming legislators on updating Weed and Pest laws to leading the Wyoming Weed and Pest Council as council president.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Sarah Cadman, his brother Nicholas (son) Cadman, and his Sisters Betty Ann Anderson, Alfa Thormahlen, and Lenore Van.
He is survived by his brothers Wayne (Lynn) Cadman and Ted (Barbara) Cadman, his wife Claudette Cadman, daughters Shelly Cadman (Trenton) St Clair and Angela (Donnie) Ellis, Son Jack (Cynthia) Cadman, grandchildren Ciara (Brooks) Thomson-Barnett, Kayla Hoffman, Spencer Orr, Christina Orr, Sophia Cadman, Lucy Cadman, Danika Anesi, Hayden St Clair, and great-grandchildren Daxton and Landric Hoffman, Zane and Cynciir Orr, and Quincy Barnett.
Sollie was a kind, gentle soul and will be missed by everyone who knew him. The world is truly a better place because of him.
