Sondra Dingler Obituary

Sondra (Sonnye) Kaye Dingler, 85, was welcomed into the arms of her heavenly Father on Thursday, November 13, 2025, in her home after a period of declining health. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Sonnye left this world with anticipation and joy, ready to see her Savior face to face and to reunite with many loved ones who have gone before her.

Lovingly known as Mimi to her family, Sonnye was born on February 12, 1940, in Pecos, Texas, to JD and Velma Verne (Morton) Bell. A true West Texas girl, she was raised in Pecos, where she attended and graduated from Pecos High School. It was there that she met and married the love of her life, William (Bill) Marcus Dingler III. Sonnye and Bill raised their children in Pecos and were faithful members of First Baptist Church, where they served for many years before moving to Odessa in 1987 to be closer to their grandchildren.

Sonnye was a wonderfully nurturing mother and friend, but the greatest joy of her life was her six grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. She loved each one fiercely, celebrating them, supporting them, and cherishing every opportunity to spoil them. She and Bill served together for many years in the mission department of First Baptist Church Odessa, ministering to residents at the Lincoln Tower retirement center where her mom resided. Her grandchildren fondly remember attending revival meetings at apartment complexes-where one grandchild accepted the Lord as Savior-and participating in gatherings at Lincoln Tower.

In 2005, Sonnye and Bill moved to Midland, where they began the final chapter of their journey at First Baptist Church Midland, forming many treasured friendships along the way. Throughout her life, she maintained cherished friendships with a group of her high school friends and they met for reunions until the last few years of her life. Sonnye also had an adventurous spirit and a deep love of travel. She was blessed to explore the world with special friends, journeying from Alaska to Hawaii, Europe to Australia, New England to the Panama Canal. No matter where she went, she carried her faith, warmth, and joy with her.

Sonnye will be remembered as a woman who loved deeply, served faithfully, and prayed continually. Her life was a shining example of devotion-to her family, to her friends, and to the Lord. She shared 58 years of marriage with Bill before his passing in 2016, and together they built a family rooted in love, service, and resilience.

She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Kim Doan, and her husband, Kevin; her son, Marc Dingler, and his wife, Kari; her grandchildren, Kyle Doan (Sara), Kendal Russo (Josh), Kalen Walls (Stephen), Marcus Dingler, Rachel Horn (Chris), and Jonathan Dingler (Evelyn); and her 14 great-grandchildren. She will also be missed by many other beloved family members and friends.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to her nephews, David and Clifford Vinson, and her niece, Dana Molinar, for their care and visits over the years. They are especially grateful to her caregivers, who faithfully supported her through challenging times: Martha Ramirez, Nancy Perez, Manda Ramirez, Evelyn Sanchez, Abby Ramirez, and Crystal Ramirez.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 24, at 1 p.m. in the chapel at First Baptist Church of Midland. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to His Voice Global, PO Box 79564, Houston, TX 77279, or online at hisvoiceglobal.com, < http://hisvoiceglobal.com/>and to Howard Payne University, hputx.edu < http://hputx.edu/ >
