Sondra Gilbert, age 66 of Gatesville, passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 14, 2023, at Sweet Home Baptist Church with Pastor Gaylon Foreman officiating. Sondra’s family will receive visitors at the Church one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
Sondra Lynn Gilbert was born on February 26, 1957 to the late Robert L. Brown Sr and Naomi Delores Abram in Gatesville, Texas. She grew up and attended school in Gatesville. After graduating high school, she attended college at Texas Women’s University in Dallas, where she ran track. She later returned to Gatesville and married Robert Gilbert, and the two made their home in Gatesville. Sondra worked as an Administrative Assistant for Sweet Home Baptist Church for ten years before finding her true passion as a licensed realtor in 2004. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren, cooking for others, and hosting holiday events and special occasions. Her favorite pastime was any weekend getaway sipping wine by the hotel pool with her girls.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Robbie Delores Clarke.
Sondra is survived by her husband, Robert Gilbert; children, Robbert Tai-Lyn Gilbert, Naiteisha Naomi Scanlon and husband, Robert, and Marcus Le’Velle Gilbert and wife, Patrice; God-son, Michael Belcher; brothers, Robert L. Brown Jr. and wife, Debra, Lawrence Brown and wife, Ruby, Ronald Brown and wife, Annette; sister, Paulette Knox and husband Willie; grandchildren, Lailah, Presley, Milo, Maddox, Demi, Zora, and Remi Mac; and a host of nieces, nephews and special friends that she considered family.
