Sondra E. Nilson

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved partner Sondra Eileen "Sonny" Nilson, 72, of State College, who peacefully departed on Monday, September 22, 2025, at Centre Care Nursing Home in Bellefonte. She was born on February 9, 1953, in Bellefonte, to the late Arthur Nilson Jr. and Geraldine (Corl) Nilson. She is survived by her fiancé of over 40 years, Sam T. Jack, who survives at home.

Sonny was a graduate of Bellefonte Area High School. She loved working as a librarian at the Bellefonte Library. Sonny was a gentle and kind soul who loved music, shopping, sitting and talking with her friends, and when she was younger, she was an avid reader. She enjoyed ice cream from the Penn State Creamery and watching TV with Sam and sharing a meal together.

Sonny leaves behind her siblings, Barbara, Nancy, George, and extended family.

There will be a public viewing held on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, from 11am-12pm at Wetzler Funeral Service Inc., Bellefonte. Funeral services will be held at noon with Reverend Chuck Jack officiating. Burial will follow at Zion Cemetery, Bellefonte.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the staff and nurses at Centre Care Nursing Home for the compassionate care they provided Sonny during her stay. She leaves behind a large family and friends who will miss her dearly.
