Sonia Allende, 79, of Hamilton Township, New Jersey, departed this life on August 21, 2024 at Avant Nursing Home. She was born on December 16, 1944 in Santurce, Puerto Rico to Carmen Tapia and Enrique Allende.
Completing high school in Puerto Rico, Sonia, one of twelve siblings, helped her mother to raise her siblings. At the age of fifteen, she came to New York in search of a better life and to live out her dreams.
Sonia was a hard worker, and a tremendous woman of God who served our Lord and Savior for over thirty years until her last breath. She loved God so much. She inspired so many souls and marked many people in her life with her warrior praying and word of God. She was everyone's grandma. When she walked into a room, she was the light to everyone's darkness. Always selfless, humble and happy with a bright smile, she always cared for everyone selflessly.
Sonia was a private person and a dedicated mother. She only knew how to show love, affection and compassion. She never shared when she was tired and stressed, but rather kept giving and never asked for anything in return. She was the definition of a follower of Christ.
Predeceased by her son, Enrique Allende, Sonia is survived by her beautiful daughter, Erica Allende, eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
