Sonia D. Larimore

Sonia D. Larimore, age 59, went home to her Lord and Savior, on November 16, 2024, at her home in Coffeyville, KS.

Sonia was born on August 18, 1965 in Wabash, IN to Don Hurd and Carol (Smith) Nielson. She grew up in Paradise Valley, AZ and graduated from Lenapah, OK in 1983. She began general studies at OU, Business Administration/Management at Coffeyville Community College Human Resources Management and at Bartlesville Wesleyan graduating in 1998. 

On May 27, 1994 Sonia married the love of her life, Rod, her husband of 30 years, in Tempe, AZ.

Sonia worked at Bones Steak House, Windsor Place at Home Care, Independence, KS, Guest Home Estates, Erie, KS, Assisted Living at Windsor Place and Grand Villas both in Coffeyville and Windsor Place working as a Telehealth Coordinator in their nursing home Without Walls Program.

Sonia loved working at the Assisted Living facilities, and was always making sure the residents’ time at Assisted Living was full of living life with as much fun as possible. Volunteering at First Southern Baptist Church was a passion of hers. She was also a member of Rotary and really enjoyed the RYLA program as well as their wheelchairs for disabled children program. She always took time to help others, listening to them or helping them in some way. Sonia’s legacy of love for the Lord, her kindness and compassion for others will forever live in our hearts..

Sonia is survived by her husband Rod and their 3 standard poodles: Boomer, Curly and Buddy all of the home. Parents Don and Cindy Hurd, South Coffeyville, OK, Bill and Carol Nielson, Tempe, AZ, sons, Jared Larimore, Oklahoma City, OK, Cody (Laura) Larimore, Independence, KS and bonus daughter Lacie Sisco, Coffeyville, KS. Grandchildren Jozlynn Gray, Makenna Larimore, Dutch Long, Parslee Sevver and bonus grandson, Sherrick Rogers. Sister Destony (Kerby) Larimore, South Coffeyville, OK, 3 stepbrothers and 3 stepsisters, brother-in-law, Dave (Marla) Larimore, Coffeyville, KS, sister-in-law Debbie (Eldon) Woods, Independence, KS and many nieces, nephews and friends.

A Memorial service will be held under the direction of Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel on Friday, November 22, 2024 at 10am at First Southern Baptist Church, 2701 W 8th St, Coffeyville, KS with Pastor Matt Friese officiating. The family is requesting memorial contributions to benefit the organizations that Sonia was passionate about. Contributions can be made payable to: First Southern Baptist Church (memo note Benevolence Fund), Rotary RYLA Scholarship Fund, Coffeyville Friends of Animals, Pawz 4 Hope or Harry Hynes Hospice.
