Sonja Lilland Hanson

Sonja Lilland Hanson went home to be with her Heavenly Father and Savior on April 3, 2024.
Born on August 18, 1940. The daughter of Martin and Sigrid Midbo, who emigrated from Norway to Brooklyn, New York. Later adopted by Lars and Margot Lilland, who also emigrated from Norway. She was the wife of Robert A. Hanson. Mother of son John R. (Michele) Hanson and daughters Kimberlee A. Hanson and Kristin R. (Greg) Adzia.
Grandmother to Ashley R. Hanson, Amber J. Hanson and Gunnar E. Hanson. Grammy to Sophie R. Adzia, Joshua G. Adzia, and Nathaniel J. Adzia and Leo H. Hanson.
Great Grandmother (GG) to Layla M. Hanson and Scarlet R. Hanson. Sister to Harry Helvik and sister-in-law to Dee Helvik. Sister to deceased brother Stanley and sisters, Thelma, Gladys and Irene. Aunt to many nieces and nephews.
An avid gardener, Sonja was the happiest when outdoors communing with nature and caring for her pollinator and Monarch gardens and feeding her favorite hummingbirds.
A member of many environmental agencies for many years, especially The National Wildlife Federation. Was proud to be a certified National Wildlife Backyard Habitat Member. Dedicated to helping save the butterflies and bees and being an organic gardener. Her loving cats, Odin Oscar and Zena, who preceded her will join her in her journey to heaven.

The memorial Visitation will be held on Friday April 26, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM with a Memorial Service at 4:00 PM at Friedrich Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville, IL 60540. For more information, please call 630-355-0213.
