Sonja Knight (1973 - 2023)**
Sonja Knight, 49, of Portland, Maine, passed away unexpectedly on August 19, 2023. Born on October 16, 1973, in Portland, she was the beloved daughter of the late James P. Pinette and Geraldine Pinette. She was preceded in death by her father and her brothers, James Pinette Jr. and Kevin W. Pinette.
Sonja is lovingly remembered by her mother, Geraldine; her sister, Tina M Pinette; her devoted daughter, Kristy L. Landry and her fiancé, Trey J. Gadbois; and her son, Jacob K. Mason. She was the cherished grandmother to Quincy Lee J. Gadbois, Justice R. Gadbois, and Javonte Trey J. Gadbois. Her nephew, Tyler J. Spear, held a special place in her heart.
With a spirit that exuded warmth and creativity, Sonja was a dedicated homemaker who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Her passion for photography and journalism captured moments and memories, while her love for music allowed her to dance freely, expressing her vibrant spirit. Among the cherished moments she left behind are the times she spent teaching card games to her beloved grandchildren and family, creating lasting memories.
Alongside her immediate family, Sonja is survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. The void left by her passing is profound, but the memories and love she shared will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.
She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
Graveside Services will be held 12 noon on Sunday September 10, 2023 at Forest City Cemetery in South Portland. A Celebration of Sonja's life will follow at the Italian Heritage Center in Portland.
