Sonny Finley

Sonny Finley, age 93, of Manchester, Kentucky passed away on Wednesday, November 19, 2025.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 25 years, Ruby Finley; two sons, Gary Finley of Indianapolis, IN, Alan Finley Chicago, IL; his stepson, Randel Cunigan & wife Debbie of Miamisburg, OH; four grandchildren, Justin Montgomery, Joshua Montgomery, Adam Cunagin, Jessica Yankel; five great grandchildren, six great, great grandchildren; special caregivers and nephews, Larry Ray and Sammy Hammons; along with several nieces, nephews and other family and friends to cherish his memory.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Laura Hammons; his parents; and by his sister, Dahlia.

Sonny lived a life full of joy, kindness, and good stories. A retired AT&T employee, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy before building a long career and a life filled with family, friendship, and laughter.

Sonny was loved by everyone who knew him. He had a gentle spirit, a joyful heart, and a gift for making others smile-especially with his unforgettable husband jokes that he delivered better than anyone. His hobbies reflected his personality: he enjoyed collecting knives and guns, running a backhoe, and riding a 4-wheeler at any speed except slow. He loved to prepare the garden for planting, tinker with anything he could get his hands on, and relax while listening to his favorite bluegrass gospel music.

Above all, Sonny will be remembered for the warmth he brought into every room, the kindness he shared so freely, and the joy he carried through life. He touched many lives and will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know him.

A funeral service honoring Sonny Finley will be held on Friday, November 21, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel of House-Rawlings Funeral Home with Wayne House officiating. The family will receive friends on beginning at 4:00 p.m. until the funeral hour, also at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at the Flanner Buchanan Memorial Park in Indianapolis, Indiana. The family has entrusted House-Rawlings Funeral Home with the arrangements.
