Sonya Mary Herde

Sonya Mary Guillory Herde was born on January 7, 1961, in Alexandria, LA. She departed from this life unexpectedly in her home on January 4, 2024, at the age of 62.
Sonya resided in the Echo/Poland Community most all of her life and was a graduate of Poland High School. Throughout these years, Sonya met and married Robert Ed Herde, spending 36 years together before his passing. Sonya and Ed had 2 children, with the majority of their upbringing, Sonya stayed home taking care of his "2 girls".
Sonya later spent time in the education field as a teachers aid, helping at many schools within the Rapides Parish area. Sonya enjoyed spending time with her family going to stores and sitting at home with her dog, Lucy.
Sonya is survived by her children, Emily Cummings (Danny) and Sarah Ducote (Randall); grandchildren, Aubrey, Lily and Bentley; brothers, Danny, Tim and Stephan; mother, Beryl Guillory; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Stephanie Guillory; father, Daniel Guillory; and husband, Ed Herde. She will be deeply missed by friends, family and all who knew her.
Visitation will be held at Gallagher Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, from 5-8 pm and again on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, from 8:30 until service time. Funeral service at 10 am with Reverend James Timothy Merritt officiating and burial to follow at Greenwood Cemetery with Reverend Benji Rhame officiating.
Pallbearers honored to serve are Stephan Guillory, Brent Guillory, Jacob Guillory, Jeff Herde, Richard Herde, and Philip Linzay.
