Kalona - Sonya Rose Jedele was born October 28, 1946, in Postville, Iowa, the daughter of Leslie and Ruth (Myron) Allen. She graduated from Postville High School in 1964. On November 22, 1964, Sonya was united in marriage to Robert L. Jedele at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. Sonya was a cook at two nursing homes, Washington Township School, the Dairy Diner, and Delta Chi Fraternity house in Iowa City. She was a member of the Washington Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Sonya was a gifted artist who enjoyed reading, crafting, and painting. Sonya passed away Monday, April 14, 2025, at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics at the age of 78 years.

Sonya is survived by her husband Bob Jedele of Kalona. 5 daughters: Lesley (Eric) Fleming of Cedar Rapids, Lisa Jock of Supply, NC, Laura Jedele of Iowa City, Leigh (Sean) Gould of Milwaukee, WI and Courtney Jedele of Collins. 6 grandchildren. 3 brothers Duane (Barb) Allen of North English, Doyle (Terrie) Allen of Postville and Darwin (Tammy) Allen of Mukilteo, WA and a sister Mary Martin of Waukon. She is preceded in death by her parents, a sister Lanette Burroughs, a son David in infancy, and her son-in-law Chris Jock.

Sonya's body will be cremated and no services are planned at this time. Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona is caring for Sonya and her family. Tributes may be made at www.powellfuneralhomes.com
