Wichita - Sonya Lea Kackley, 54, passed away Monday, May 05, 2025. She was born May 12, 1970 to General Sherman Thomas and Deborah Gene Thomas (Beck) in Wichita, Kansas. Sonya was united in marriage to the love of her life, Ken, on April 20, 1990 - a bond built on unwavering love and shared joy that endured through the decades.
Sonya's heart beat strongest for her family. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she found deep purpose in being their biggest cheerleader - at games, in life's quiet moments, and during every family celebration. Whether in the stands or around the dinner table, her warmth and support never wavered. Her presence brought comfort, laughter, and love to every room she entered.
Professionally, Sonya dedicated many years of service to Wesley Medical Center before continuing her passion for care by running a home daycare. Her nurturing spirit left a lasting impact on every child she cared for, just as it did on her own family.
Sonya's life was a testament to love, kindness, and quiet strength. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those who were lucky enough to know her.
Sonya was preceded in death by her father, General Sherman Thomas.
She is survived by her husband, Ken Kackley; mother, Deborah Gene Beck of Wichita; daughters, Sierra, Makenzie, and Alexis; her grandchildren, Colton, Kayden, Paityn, Christian, Karson, Krue and Aviella; her siblings, Tonya Jo Childres of Wichita, Kevin Edward Thomas of Wichita, Karla Leean (Steve) Seymore of Mulvane, and Stephanie Werth of Hays.
Visitation: Tuesday, May 13, 2025 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM and Funeral Service: Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at 1:00pm, both at Smith Family Mortuary - Haysville. Interment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
